Emblems of childhood, dolls convey an adult desire for innocence and purity. But they do not convey the actual emotion range we experience as children. Catherine Hall’s Doll Heads to just that: They pout. They sulk. They gaze with hope and fear. These are made using latex molds in which Hall pours plaster. She distorts the mold before plaster sets. Once they cure, she covers them with encaustic wax. Details: 4” x 3” | plaster, encaustic wax, latex mold | 2006-2007
