Katie Dyer is a Vermont native. She lives in Burlington where she creates both wheel-thrown and hand-built pieces. She is a self-taught artist who has been making ceramics for 13 years. Katie has worked with a number of Vermont potters including: Jules Polk, Joan Watson, Jeremy Ayers, Harold Kaplan, and Claude Lehman. Her pottery is a reflection of her interests as a writer, an English as a second language teacher, and a person fascinated with poetry, letter press, and traditional Chinese paper cutting. Her work is simple with meaning and handmade with a modern look. Katie’s latest work involves white stoneware slabs with black letter pressed words and original paper cut design. This work was most recently shown at the Green Door Studio in Burlington, Vermont.
